So a few weeks ago we noticed that Luna was having her first "heat" (i know that this sounds like you don't want to read anymore, and i don't blame you...but you might get a giggle) The next day I went and bought some washable "diapers" with disposable pads so we could still keep her in the house. They looked totally ridiculous on her. The kids all started calling her "Diaper Daisy" (I may have started that...I can't remember ;) ) and would always laugh when they saw her. One Sunday afternoon, we decided to take her for a walk with the diaper on so she wouldn't leave a scent trail for all the boy dogs in the neighborhood. Maddie bursts out with "But what about my reputation!! My friends are going to see my dog in a diaper!!" I just looked at her and smiled, noticing her long piece of fabric wrapped around her waist and bunched together in the back with 2 rubber bands...making a tail. We were already outside on our way. I said to Nate, "Do you think it's the dog with the diaper or the girl with the tail that'll hurt her reputation?". Maddie said "It's a Fox Tail." as if that made it totally normal and she whipped around, folding her arms across her chest in a pouty gesture. Nate and I just cracked up. I love Maddie's age...most of the time. :) So much of her wants to play like a little girl, and so much of her wants to act like a young lady. Those things seem to be waring with each other all the time.
