When I was growing up, there was a house down the street from me who started putting lights up very early...because it was crazy Christmas light house. It was always amazing and always done by the family that lived there. It was especially fun walking past it while wearing THESE glasses:
(they made all the lights say "Noel" or have snowflakes around them...seriously awesome.)
Jan Shelton used to joke about just putting up mirrors on her house and calling it good...but isn't this so much better? Isn't it?
I love these colors too...you might be seeing more of them soon. Have fun putting paint on those layouts! And remember that coupon in the post a couple below this one...
When we moved into our house, not only was it (err...still is) mustard yellow on the outside...it had strawberry milkshake walls and ceilings all over the house...unless they were painted a lively lavender. We painted the entire upstairs as soon as we moved in. But there were 2 more thorns in my side about the upstairs rooms...2 light fixtures I didn't like...in fact one I REALLY didn't like (ok...I don't like the oven or the counter tops either). I'm sorry if you like pink...I like pink...I just don't like it in my living room and/or dining room. I bought 2 light fixtures to replace the ones I didn't like - one for the entry way and one for the dining room. The original dining room light fixture was pink swirly glass with breath-taking bead trim around the bottom. The entry light was better (non-sarcastically). A gold chain with a pendant light on the end. Clearly the entry light was the lesser of the two evils. This August, I went to help prepare food for my cousin's reception and when I came home, Nate was just finishing putting up the ugly dining room light in the entry way. "Really?" I asked. (lots of laughter from Nate...exasperated sigh from me) "Why on earth would you take the time to do that?" to which he replied, "Any joke worth doing takes some time and effort."
The jury's still out on how long it'll be there. And yes...those are my brothers. Both younger than me...both bigger than me. And Michael's holding Lucas' shield. We'll touch on his jealousy of Lucas' toys in another post.
I secretly giggle to myself every time I see that light...don't tell Nate...
The Johnsons have taken over the "Family Singers"
title after this amazing rendition of "Happy Birthday" at Maddie's
birthday party. Yes. Here it is just for you to hear. Adam
recorded it. I particularly like Dad's speech at the beginning urging us
to make it even better than the month before. I love my family!
I guess I must ask that kid to watch my kids all the time... I HAVE been making a point to call him to ask him other things...but everytime I say "What are you doing tonight" the auto response is "I'm going to Jordan's house." It's actually getting hilarious. Last night I stopped by my parent's on the way to the grocery store. I said "mom...check this out."
me- Matt, what are your plans tonight? matt- I'm going to Jordan's house me- Aww. That's too bad. I was wondering if you wanted to come over and play rock band with Mike, Kasia, and us. matt- I can do that. me- THERE IS NO ROCK BAND, MATTHEW! I caught you! matt- hehehehe
Yes it made my mom laugh. Laugh hard. and me too. And also Matthew. But I can understand ditching Jordan for a rock band sibling night...they do rule, after all.
And you can see that Matthew clearly takes rock band-ing very seriously.
